Born in Ludwigsburg (Southern Germany), Daniel Wiesmann studied communication design at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design. Alongside fellow students and teachers in Stuttgart, his professor Niklaus Troxler was an important influence on him. During his studies he worked as an intern in the studios of tamotsu yagi (San Francisco) and Peter Buchanan-Smith (New York).

After graduating in 2007, he moved to Berlin, where he worked with the Design Studio Cyan for three years. Daniel Wiesmann has been running his own studio in Berlin since 2010. He is in charge of the visual identity of the dance company Sasha Waltz & guests, the Ludwigsburg festival, and the markthalle neun in Berlin. His clients also include publishers, artists, musicians and filmmakers.
