Typed on the wrong layout? Fixed as you type.

Glifto is a light keyboard layout switcher for Mac. Hit space and ghbdtn becomes “привет”. The app collects no data and contains no networking code.

Email us and we'll let you know when it is ready.

ghbdtn привет

This is what the settings look like: two independent switches, a hotkey and an exclusion list.

Everything you need, nothing you don't

A small menu bar app that does one job and does it carefully.

Automatic fixes on space

A word is changed only if it is not a word on the layout it was typed on and becomes a real word after conversion. Checked against macOS's own dictionaries.

Tap on Option

Press and release Option and the last word or the selected text moves to the other layout. Tap again to undo.

Works with selections

Select text with the mouse or Shift+arrows and tap. It works in browsers, Slack and other Chromium-based apps too.

Excluded apps

A list of apps where nothing happens. Automatic fixes are off in terminals and code editors by default.

Switch on what you want

Tap and automatic are independent switches: both, either or neither. You choose the hotkey and the pair of layouts.

Feels part of macOS

A native interface, light and dark themes, and the current layout's flag in the menu bar.

As light as a utility should be

It sits in the background all day, so it should not be noticeable. We measured it instead of promising.

0.9 MB
the whole app

Native code, no Electron; the executable is 597 KB.

37 MB
memory in use

Real consumption (physical footprint) after 17 hours of running.

0.0 %
CPU when idle

While you are not typing, it computes nothing.

0
network connections

No networking code and no network permissions.

Measured on 22 October 2026, version 0.1, Apple M4 Pro, macOS 26.5. Memory with footprint, CPU with top at idle, connections with lsof. Check it on your own Mac in Activity Monitor.

Privacy first — and you can verify it

The app sees key presses, so “we collect nothing” is not enough. Here is what you can check yourself in a minute.

  1. Activity Monitor

Open Activity Monitor → the Network tab. Glifto has no bytes sent and none received.

  2. Terminal

The command lsof -a -i -p $(pgrep -x Glifto) prints nothing: the process has no network connections.

  3. Firewall

Block every connection for the app in Little Snitch or LuLu. Nothing changes, because it does not need the network.

What is stored on your Mac

The switches, the hotkey, the layouts and the exclusion list. That is all.

What does not exist at all

Typed text on disk, history, accounts, analytics and advertising identifiers. All of this is about the app.

The last word (up to 128 characters) lives in memory only. The clipboard is used for a fraction of a second to read a selection in Chromium-based apps, and is put back as it was. This website, like most, counts visits; that does not apply to the app.

Questions and answers

If yours is missing, write to [email protected].

Which languages are supported?

English and Russian for now. Layouts come from the system, so conversion follows your real layouts. Ukrainian and other pairs are planned.

How does it decide a word needs changing?

After the space it checks that the word is not in the dictionary of the layout it was typed on, and that its conversion is a word in the other language. Anything doubtful is left alone, and a replaced word can be undone with a tap on Option.

Why two macOS permissions?

Input Monitoring lets it see key presses and Accessibility lets it replace the word. The system grants them only with your consent, and the app shows you where to switch them on.

What about terminals and code editors?

Automatic fixes are off there: a word is more often a command or an identifier. The Option tap works everywhere, and you can build your own exclusion list in the settings.

How much will it cost?

We plan a one-time payment, no subscription. The exact price will be announced at launch.

Is there a Windows version?

It is planned, with the same approach: everything local and no data collection. Tell us if you need it and we will let you know when it ships.
